Clotta™ - The Haemostatic
Collagen Sponge For The Human Market
This product will be available in the next few months.

What Is It Made From?

The product is made from 100% Avian Collagen which is one of the closest matches to human collagen. This composition promotes the healing cascade within wounds, working alongside natural proteins found in the body.

Why Is Collagen Important For healing?

Collagen is the most prevalent protein within the body. Its fibre-like structure is used to make connective tissue and is a major component of bone, skin, muscle, tendons and cartilage. It plays a critical role in the regulation phases of wound healing and contributes to the mechanical strength and elasticity of tissues.

Benefits of Collagen

  Promotes an anti-inflammatory environment

  Aids the reparative stages

Facilitates the migration of key cellular components

  Boosts granulation tissue formation

  Minimal risk of allergic reactions

Why Use Collaclot™ Over Competitor Products?

Unlike other competitor products, Collaclot™ works with your blood to help activate the clotting process, rather than absorbing the blood. Current competitor products absorb the blood and form a plug, which doesn't conform well to the shape of an injury.

Other competitor products show they have no clot attached. The blood is only absorbed into the product, forming a light sticky gel and due to the fact that this product has to be removed, it counteracts the natural processes of clot formation. The product itself has hardened to jagged edges that do not conform to the shape of the injury (in this case, a circular test tube).

Collaclot™ is the lighter blood-saturated material below the large clots. Clot formation up to 5mm in depth is formed above. This will create a resilient, flexible plug that seals blood vessels and resists further bleeding on movement, which also demonstrates that it is the superior product for general first aid, trauma wounds & emergency bleeding.

Customer Testimonials

The distinguished and elegant Sh Ch Layways Van Winkle JW (Hungarian Vizsla) Jasper – has a family link to the manufacturer's CEO who owns one of his pups Rafiki. On hearing that Jaspers' owner was extremely worried as Jasper’s Happy Tail injury was not healing, was becoming infected and they had tried numerous methods unsuccessfully, naturally, they wanted to offer help.

Despite the name, happy tail injuries are NOT happy. Certain breeds of dogs wag their tails constantly. Happy tails often develop bleeding ulcers that will not heal because the source of the problem (wagging) will not stop. Sometimes bandaging the injured area along with antibiotics and pain medication will prevent infection, calm the nerves, and allow the tail to heal.

Fantastically a couple of weeks after the initial treatment, Jasper went onto show at Crufts 2022 winning Dog CC (best dog), BOB (best of breed Vizsla) and 3rd in the televised Gundog Group, only to be beaten by the Baxer the Flat-Coated Retriever best in show champion.

For two years we have battled with Jaspers tail, he is a very happy dog and repeatedly bangs it against anything in the way. When offered this product to try just a few weeks before Crufts we jumped at the chance… we were at our wits end! We were instructed to wrap Jaspers tail with Collaclot™ prior to bandaging. On removal of the dressing 3-4 days later the wound had noticeably started healing! Just a few weeks on, the skin around the wound is noticeably smoother and the hair has grown back. He hasn’t had hair on the end of his tail for the past two years! Collaclot™ is an absolute miracle product!

I couldn't be happier with the outcome. When I was faced with this large laceration on my horse, I instantly went for the Collaclot™ and placed it directly into the wound, which was then removed at clean up. The bleeding stopped straight away, with no re-bleeding during the clean-up and stitch. It was also incredibly easy to remove from the wound. When it first happened, we were advised by the vet that due to the type of laceration there would be a high chance of wound breakdown and separation, but upon using the Collaclot™ product, both the vet and I were amazed by how the wound had healed.

We used Collaclot™ effectively on a spleen bleed and were very happy with the result. Also used on a liver biopsy where stitching and cautery failed to control the bleed post-procedure, but Collaclot™ worked and the Vet was very impressed. Patients incisions were closed with confidence that the product had stopped and controlled any potential re-bleed effectively. Both patients were dogs, with the liver biopsy being performed on a Corgi.

We have purchased the 'Collaclot™ Pads' and have found them very useful. We have used them mostly in dental sockets, especially in our sight hound friends - who tend to bleed that bit more with extractions. We also use them a lot in enucleations. We find the pads particularly useful for this, as you can cut them to size and pack out the socket nicely, then close up as normal. I see great opportunity for packing out a biopsy site that wanted to bleed. I think they are a very handy tool for any GP Vet to have about her person in a busy small animal surgery.

- Lizzie Threadingham, Vet, Martin & Manifold Vets

I used Collaclot™ to help control the bleeding associated with an enucleation. The Collaclot™ was easy to use and place at the back of the eye socket, and came away nicely without disrupting the clot. I would definitely use it again for any area that was oozing.

- Zizia Douglas, Veterinary Surgeon

I used some Collaclot again yesterday. A 20-year-old thoroughbred gelding, oral extraction of multiple incisor teeth under sedation and local anaesthesia. Arterial bleeding from alveolus during extraction, vessel had retracted into the premaxilla, so could not be clamped and lighted.  Collaclot placed in alveolus with pressure applied using gauze swabs and left in situ. Picture is from the day post-surgery, not easy to see the Collaclot as within alveolus, but the ability of the Collaclot to stop the arterial bleeding was impressive!
