Are You Focused on Increasing Your Quality of Patient Care Through Innovative Wound Care Products?

If not, you need to reconsider...

Wound care is an essential part of patient management with great potential to impact the duration and extent of your patient's recovery. How a wound is treated initially will greatly impact the outcome. Poor treatment will delay healing, negatively affecting a patient's outcome, and accruing unnecessary charges for the client.

The proper care of wounds is critical to ensuring optimal success in wound healing and restoration of good health and recent years have seen many advancements in wound treatment and have led to products that are less painful, and more effective for your patients.

The Pharmaplast range offers all three and more, giving you freedom of choice over the most advanced solutions in the field.

Discover The Range:

Foam Dressings: Create The Optimum Moist Wound Environment

Foam wound dressings are specially designed to address one of the most pressing requirements of wound care, the creation of a moist wound environment which is conducive to healing.

The sponge-like nature of the foam material used has the dual effect of holding moisture while allowing air to move around the treated area. These dressings are ideal for wounds with a high volume of exudate to be removed, otherwise, the wound may become excessively dry.

Non-Adherent Dressings: Don't Stick to What You Know

Pharmapad is a highly absorbent, non-adherent dressing that is ideal for open wounds that have light to moderate exudate. The dressing is laminated on both sides with PE net, which keeps the fabric from sticking to the wound as it heals and won't disrupt any healing that takes place, nor will it leave any residue.

Island Dressings: Comfortable for Patient & Practice

Pharmaplast's selection of Island Dressings are designed to benefit both the animal and the clinician. These dressings are soft and conformable, making them comfortable to wear whilst protecting the wound from the outside environment and further potential trauma.

Calcium Alginate Dressings: Accommodating Unorthodox Wound Sites

Alginate wound dressings are non-woven, non-adhesive pads and ribbons composed of natural polysaccharide fibres or xerogel derived from seaweed. They are soft, conformable and easy to pack, tuck or apply over irregularly shaped wounds. Pharma-Algi® F can be indicated when there is moderate to heavy exudate, such as pressure injuries, infected wounds and venous insufficiency ulcers.

Transparent Dressings: Visual Clarity

Transparent Dressings: Visual Clarity

Transparent wound dressings serve as a primary covering for second-stage wounds, partial-thickness wounds, and wounds with little to no drainage. Because these dressings are transparent and ultra-thin, it’s simple and convenient to track a patient’s healing process.

Help spot problems with IV line connections, such as catheter tip dislocation and blood continuously seeping into the catheter.

Provide a moist environment that assists healing, where the cells that repair damaged skin work best.

Deliver all the benefits of surgical tape while simultaneously providing bacterial, viral and waterproof barriers.

Painful Dressing Changes Leading to Sticky Situations

Medical Adhesive Related Skin Injuries (MARSI) can negatively impact patient outcomes and significantly add to the cost of treatment. This is one of the biggest challenges you can face when managing and treating wounds, along with risk of infection and wound pain.

While the focus on patient care has shifted, most adhesive options have remained problematic. Repeated adhesive removal can result in significant skin damage, which leads to pain, inflammation, and disruption of the normal skin barrier protective function.

So What's The Solution?

Soft silicone dressings, gels, and adhesives are the way forward when it comes to responsible, pro-active wound care. The material has all the high-quality attributes needed, without the complications and dangers present in other materials that have been explored over time.

Soft Silicone Dressings: The Preferred Skin Trauma Solution

Soft Silicone Dressings: The Preferred Skin Trauma Solution

They don't stick to hair, therefore alleviating the fear that most people associate with dressings making contact with hairs on the body.
They don't naturally attract dead or dry skin cells - one of the reasons soft silicone products leave the skin undamaged and intact when removed.
They can easily be re-attached after being removed without a significant amount of adhesion being lost.
They are very flexible and easily conform to unique body parts (i.e. elbows, knees, the neck, etc.).

Shifting to using more silicone adhesives will help to reduce the economic burden of post-operative complications and improve your patient outcome.

Hydrocolloid Dressings: Seal → Protect → Heal

When applied, Hydrocolloid Dressings are adherent and waterproof, providing a strong seal against the skin and protecting the wound from the external environment.

The dressing doesn't adhere to the wound itself, which allows the bandage to be changed without the loss or disruption of scab formations or recently healed tissue. The adhesive, however, does stick to the surrounding intact skin, making an excellent seal and the ideal environment for both protection and healing to take place.

Hydrogel Dressings: Transform Your Wound Care With Affordable Hydrogel Technology

Using revolutionary technology, Hydrogel wound care can help prevent unnecessary infection and heal wounds before they become chronic.

The Hydrogel focuses on eradicating bacteria that is present in the wound and the surrounding skin. It's effectiveness is empowered by its rapid, almost immediate, killing effect. The technology's low toxicity is extremely beneficial when healing wounds, as it doesn't cause irritation or pain when applied to the skin.

These advanced dressings were designed to facilitate the exchange of fluid on the surface of a wound. Unlike Hydrocolloid, they provide a semi-permeable surface that allows the normal discharge of sodium to take place as damaged tissue is replaced and covered over by healthy tissue. Some hydrogels have a cooling effect on the wound which helps to reduce the pain felt by the patient. Hydrogel is best used in strictly controlled medical settings where damage to the dressing is a minimal risk.

Paraffin Dressings: Painless, Atraumatic Removal

A primary wound dressing impregnated with soft paraffin, these dressings help to create a moist wound environment, which can promote healing and reduce the risk of infection.

Silver Dressings: Fight Ag-ainst Wound Infection

Silver dressings are referred to as both antimicrobial dressings and antiseptic dressings, that are used to prevent or manage infection in a wide range of wounds. Silver-containing dressings are also easy to apply and may need less frequent dressing changes. [3]
